This is the main part of a range of nine assorted cabinets which include a bookcase, housings for two loudspeakers and a subwoofer, a hi fi separates system and a TV concealed in a rise and fall cabinet.

Some solid timber has been used but due to the very high cost of hardwood in the Europe, compared with the USA, many of the panels are mahogany veneered chipboard (particleboard).

Total materials cost was in the region of £300, excluding the rise and fall mechanism. I did design a couple of these but found that I could buy one for less that it would cost me to build one.

Thank you. They were designed to fit into an old (150 years?) French farmhouse so that they didn’t look out of place. The two on the extreme right were built for another house about 25 years ago so I just followed the same pattern. I guess that answers the durability question.☺
