Having read a fair bit on the benefits of a set of jumbo jaws I decided to make a set. I took a 14” X 48” piece of 1/2” ply and cut it into 9 X 9” squares Drew an arc on each one and cut them out with the band saw. I drew 3 lines @ 22.5°. On the 2 out side lines I drilled 1/4” holes every 5/8”. These are for the hold downs.
I laid out the 1/4” holes for mounting to the chuck …using the chuck. The hold downs are 3/4” chair leg rubbers.
I turned a hardwood dowel to 3/4”, cut to size and drilled for a 1/4 X 2 bolt. I still have to cut off the extra length of the bolts. Don’t really care for anything that”s spinning and sticking out like that. Other than that…They work not to bad.
