A friend asked if I could build something to house a preserved rose from his brother’s casket wreath. It was contained on a small wooden plate covered with a glass dome. Here’s what I created:
The out side boarder is bleached pine framed with mahogany; maple burl frames the glass and koa was coopered for the inner box. There are two hidden LED lights, top and bottom. A micro switch and battery pack was also installed. In dim ambient light, the upper yellow LED provides a back wash on the koa and the bottom red LED hits the rose—popping it out of the case.
