These are Birthday Weekend invitations for my nieces and nephew. We have them over every year and spoil the heck out of them!

I made a couple of simple invites at first, a scroll and a treasure map, but then I went a little too intense for a couple years.

They are all made out of Poplar, glued up and turned on my mini lathe. I painted with everything ranging from textile paint, to airbrush, rattle can, and Testors enamel model paint.

If it looks like it moves it does, I really enjoyed trying to make everything do as i imagined.

The coolest thing is all of the kids really liked them and still have them. I hope someday they can share them with their own kids.

That is impressive! I love the airplane motor and prop, very nice paint job!

Very creative, but I like the Flash Gordon style rocket the best.

Thanks everyone, I really had a great time building them. The rocket is of course a Buster Crabb Flash Gordon design, but I did not do it exactly like the original.

This is a fun laser gun I did for my brother. He’s older than me but we still appreciate display things for our dens.

An orrery! Been wanting to build one of the solar system but they are complicated and intimidating. Also a fellow lover of rocket ships and built one awhile back, it’s in my projects.

What is the contraption in the last pic?
