New Gazebo shed door!

Project by Dick, & Barb Cain posted 412 days ago 783 views 0 times favorited 18 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Before winter sets in I decided to make a new shed door.

The old door has seen its better days, 25 years.

They don’t build things like they used to. LOL

I can only blame myself though.

I applied 3 coats of Boiled Linseed Oil to see how it withstands the elements.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can see how it rotted away. I beveled the stretcher edges on the new door at 15 degrees,
so water can run off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The bandsaw is great for cutting all 5 pieces taped together with packaging tape.

Nice job Dick. I see you made some design changes. It’ll take a few years to age to the same patena as the shed.

If you look closely in the 3rd picture there’s some nut trying to break in already…

Dick;

I believe you could still out work me! Of course we’re almost the same age. lol

I didn’t know you have elephants in Minnesota. Let’s see how that BLO stands up against them.

Say hello to Barb.

Nice job Dick, and Barb, you two make up quite a team. Dick I think they make a stain that is about the same color as the old cedar. I can’t remember the brand though. It is a beautiful design.

Thanks Mike!

It’s kind of nice, looking at the new wood, so I’m going to let it age gracefully on its own.
