Project Information

I needed a carry case for my spotting scope. The original packaging included a resilient foam insert that fits the scope perfectly and protects it from bumps, so why not reuse it? The box is made from red oak with a few knots to give it character. The hardware is for a guitar case and was ordered from Stewart-MacDonald. The case sides are held together with dovetails. The top and bottom are floating red oak panels. The accessory tray is finger-jointed. This is my most challenging project to date, and the most fun.

The case turned out great - I originally clicked on it to see how you formed the foam. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful! Nobody else on the firing range (if thats what you use it for) will have a case like this.
