Yes I know it’s another cutting board, but it’s something I’ve completed and that’s quite an accomplishment considering the last 8 months. This was the project I was working on when the truck went through and trashed my entire shop. Since then I’ve started to rebuild but have been hampered by a torn tendon in the left arm with surgical repair and now the right arm has the same problem with surgery within the next two weeks! You can see I still haven’t replaced the temporary doors with the new ones I’ve built. I just don’t have much use out of my arms right now without a great deal of pain.

I enjoyed the project. For Father’s Day, all I asked for was my youngest daughter to join me in the shop. Together we milled the blanks and did all the glue ups. I’ve been sanding a little at a time ever since. Hard Maple and Purple Heart with a mineral oil finish. Next time, I’ll use a varnish/mineral oil combo or wax/oil. Couldn’t find Salad Bowl Finish locally. Didn’t want to order online as I was wanted to give this as a present this weekend. Mommy gets the cutting board this afternoon when they return from a short trip to PA.

“June” looks interested but she really wants a ride in the truck. She’s not a regular in the shop just yet.

The beauty in that board is your youngest daughter in the shop helping you with the build of the board for another lady in your lives.

Really a nice board and great you are getting the shop back in order and really great your daughter could help! Nice…

-- Jeff - I have not failed. I've just found 10,002 ways that won't work.

Thanks guys. The dog gets WAY too many treats as she’s pretty fat. I really like having the little one in the shop with me. She’s my buddy and we are really close. Next project should be someway of preventing her from becoming a teen. Suppose I COULD just lock her in the shop? (just kidding. don’t go psycho stalker on me).

Nice board there. A good sign that you’re getting everything back together. By the way, that’s a chocolate lab.

@firefighterontheside. It took me a few minutes to get it. LOL. I had two black labs but the original and best tempered one passed away. Hadn’t planned on another dog but saw her on CL and few hours later she joined our family. No intention of changing my name to OneBlackOneChocolate.

The wife loved the board. “You MADE that?”. Everyone loves it so far.

Well, I’m sorry you lost your lab, but happy you were able to invite another one in. I like having two. My seven year old son has been watching me making cutting boards and realized that I could make one that looks like a checker board.
