Haven’t posted in a while, as I was working on a large commissioned project. All 8 units are made from solid Maple, laminated. Custom fitted to their new home. Finished with 5 coats of Gel Stain (antique Maple), and 2 coats of Minwax Wipe On Poly (satin).

The biggest issue was the fact that the client wanted the Distressed look, knots, gouges, etc. A real struggle for those of us that like smooth wood. But I struggled through and enjoy the project.

I distressed a grandmother clock housing once. I used a chain and beat it some. not good enough so I had to add some nail holes and use used brass screws. it did look old and slightly abused when done but not my favorite finish. I like smooth wood. your work is beautiful.
