Been an exciting day for mallets to be sure… Here is the mallet that I made for Dan aka 489tad. The head is Bubinga and Rock Maple with an Ipe exterior. The handle is Hickory with Purpleheart wedge and Bamboo? pins. Had this in a number of states of finish as it was uncommonly completed well before deadline. Means more usage sanding and poly, wax, what have you…

Included along with this mallet and shown in the final picture were a number of various grabs from around the shop which hopefully will prove useful…

Nice, the look of the tenon in the top is cool.

Thanks Shane… Was thinking a bit much given the glue line but I am confident in its remaining solid!

I agree with Shane – the round tenon with wedge is cool.

Shane the top is cool. I’m looking at it right now. The wood grain is awesome, the mallet has good weight and the handle feels right. Now let’s talk about packing materials. That still cracks me up and I have to go through it again. I don’t remember seeing a cloths pin. Thanks again Dan.

:) Glad you like it Dan and the clothespin was included no additional charge of course. Only thing you missed out on was the Sawzall dovetails out of Walnut, and the painters tape that I meant to pack but forgot/ran out of room.

Did you see the attempt at getting it all to fit in a medium flat rate yes? Explanation for the one jagged Oak board. The box did not provide quite the support that I thought that it was.

Love the signature tag and the oval tenon. How hard was it to make that shape. Turned out beautiful!

Thanks Dean, Paja… Tenon was easy enough drilled out the majority and did the rest with a rasp…
