Can You See the Chess Board? All Ash

Project by WoodMosaics posted 399 days ago 458 views 0 times favorited 7 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This chess board is 17” square. Each square is just over 2” and is made using 8 triangles. One type of wood is in each square. One kind of wood is on the chess board. The dark square has “Ash sapwood” and “Ash Heartwood” from Missouri; the light square has “Ash heartwood” and “Ash sapwood” from Missouri. There are 612 pieces in the over lay.

I was playing around when I made this board. I wanted to see what it would look like to reverse the kinds of wood in each square and also if I could make it all out of the same wood. It can mix up your opponent. It can mix you up.

This is my version of “modern art”; it makes a nice wall hanging.

Also on the back, I signed it, listed the wood, and dated it.

This gives a completely different look to a chess board. When not being used as a chess board, it is made to hang on the wall from one corner. They make a very beautiful wall hanging.

Chess Board, All Ash

Very Nice! I like the subtle color combination with the intricate pattern. My favorite is your 3-D cube table. Like all of your pieces, if you spin that around a few times and everyone will be hypnotized and ready to do anything at your bidding!
