First Wood Project - Poker Table

This was built a few years ago as a first woodworking project. I learned a lot from this project. The lessons learned were:
1 – Cheap tools will give you cheap results: It does make sense to spend the extra $ to get more precise tools
2 – Measure twice… actually measure 3 times…
3 – Plan
4 – Beer doesn’t suddenly give you mighty super powers… :-(

It was a fun project. I had a few games and actually used the table for a prop for website we developed for Poker training and was signed by Daniel Negreanu.

If I had to redo it, I would cut the drink holders with a router, cut the curves of table with a router as well. I’d cut the plywood with my Festool circular saw. I would also make it a table with “final” legs and would bent the wood to make it a nicer rail. The finishing took about 7 coats, sanding, etc…

A very nice table, with fine craftsmanship.

Where are the ash trays for the Poker Playin Cigar smokers? Nice job. I’m sure I could lose a lot of cash (if I had any) at this beautiful gaming site.

This is quite a first project as woodyone said. Well done. I have pondered building one myself someday.

I think my first WWing found its end with a lighter and a camp fire. Very nice project. Well done!
