The two pieces have finally been brought together. What an amazing experience and a true labor of love. It is safe to say I have completed last major step in the building. I am up to about 30 hours and on week number 8. I just read a post that an alternative building technique to stitch and glue is solid wood strip building and that can take as long as 500 hours or more to do.

If anyone is interested in learning more about this process I created a Lumber Jock forum from the very first day. I tried to share my experiece to inspire others to build a kayak or just simply anything. If you go over to my forum feel free to say hello and ask any questions you may have:

This is super inspiring. My wife loves kayaking and the big tandem boat we have is too big for her to handle alone…there may be a Christmas proejct in the works now!
