This is a tool tote based on the design published by Jim Tolpin and George Walker in their book By Hand & Eye (a great read, by the way). True to the spirit of the book, this project was made completely with hand tools and without a single numerical measurement; it was proportioned using my handspan as the primary module. The wood I used was simply small bits I had around the shop: “Craiglist” pine, some 1/2” walnut, a fir handle and oak wedges.

I made this tote not because I felt I needed it, but just to test drive the proportioning principles in the book. However, I barely had the box made before I was using it almost every day around the homestead. A fun build and a great design!
