This is my first attempt at making a cabinet box. I used oak plywood with walnut for the outside trim. I stained in Early American as that is what my husband wanted. I put 2 coats of poly since it could be splashed with water. The colors all seem to match that you can’t really see the differences between the different woods. It’s heavy so I put the cleat on the inside of the box, and so it will fit flat against the wall. The insert on the lid was supposed to be a flat piece of wood but I wanted something a little different. My husband cut my plastic and then sanded it for that frosty look and I cut the fencing part to put inside next to the plastic. Funny thing, I made the cut large enough to hold both. I used my KREG jig for the doors, router and table saws, simple screws on the sides, and the air gun for the assembly of the box itself. I’m trying to see which way I like not only the ease of assembly but the looks.
