I hope that some lumberjocks out there feel that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Red flat sawn oak, copper star, and tung oil finish. Any suggestions for what to do with the face would be appreciated. Thanks for looking

At this stage I would probably just drill holes at 12, 3, 6 and 9 and insert a contrasting dowel. HTH

I like the casual look of the clock. You could try flat head copper nails or a small swirl of copper wire flattened.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had originally planned to print out a dial on heavy paper, but I couldn’t find anything I liked online and was too bad of an artist to draw my own on the computer. The wire idea is intriguing and I might give that a try. If that doesn’t look right, I’ll put in the dowels.
Thanks again
Dave

If you can’t draw your own design you can take a photograph of one you like or make an image file from one you find on the internet and then scale to size and print it.
Web sites for clock parts also sell individual numbers that could be applied to a copper plate (similar to your bottom star) or just the wood. Try Merrits Antiques http://www.merritts.com/clock_parts/public/productlist.aspx?SubcategoryID=2057 Look under dials and numerical.
