Rustic / Asian fusion Hall Table

Another day, another table. This time, the client, a local man asked me to craft a table he’d seen online – a rustic/asian fusion kind of hall table. The top is a “live edge” walnut slab. The live edge is the natural side of the tree, minus the bark. He wanted through tenons to the top. The legs are cherry. The middle shelf is quilted maple. Not really something I would have designed, but he loved it. :)

I love it too. Like the design and the contrasting woods.

Might not be something you would’ve designed, but you pulled it off. I think it looks cool.

Remember, the customer is not always right but he IS always the customer and generally it pays to please him.

Looks good. I actually really like that table and might consider that design for myself at some point.

I am working on something right now that I wouldn’t have designed myself, but the customer wants it, so make it I will. I think it is good to do projects every once in a while that we wouldn’t necessarily make on our own time for ourselves. Projects like that have pushed me to learn more and think outside the box.

Very elegant, and nice proportions.

TheWoodenOyster you make a good point – if you don’t challenge yourself, you don’t grow.
