I did a demonstration at my turning guild on Saturday. I brought a log that was about 8 inches in diameter and 10 inches long (guessing). I was demoing carbide cutters. I did great for the demo….but when i got it home and rechucked it on my lathe, it decided to blow up. This is what I was able to salvage. The wood is spalted sugar maple from my tree that we lost o few years ago.

Pretty wood, Rick. Nice recovery. I have done that so many times when most of the piece leaves the lathe. I just gather myself up after being startled and think what the rest of it could be. Nice going, Jim

Good save. Would make a great candy bowl.
