I needed a relatively quick 7th anniversary present for my wife and had some nice left over pieces of wood from some other recent projects (you will see from my other projects that this is not the first time I have needed a last minute anniversary gift, lol).

This is a 5/8” thick piece of curly maple that has quite nice figure with a thin cocobolo frame. In the reverse side, I used a 1” forstner bit to drill out 5 holes for some rare earth magnets that I had. I left about 1/8” of material between the magnets and the face, which seem to allow for plenty of holding power for most of our knives. My wife does use one heavy butcher blade for chopping, so on one end hole, I doubled up the magnets for a stronger hold.

Turned out nice and the wife is happy :)

Great looking save. You did well.
