Kitchen Storage Cabinet

Been a few months since I posted anything but rest assured that the reports of my alien abduction were greatly exaggerated… LOL. Need to state up front that I am not a cabinet maker and after this project, I am not sure I wanna be one either. My sister wanted a floor to ceiling storage cabinet for her kitchen and this is what I came up with. Oak plywood carcass with solid oak facings and door frames. Its 98” tall, 36” wide and 23” deep. One side is set up for adjustable shelves and the other is for brooms and whatnot. She just refinished her existing cabinets so is planning to finish this cabinet to match. The worst part of this build…it was almost bigger than my shop…LOL.

Marty- Thanks buddy. Life kept getting in the way of my getting into the shop and on LJ’s.

Joe- thank you sir. I had ordered one of those Bench Dawg shelf pin jigs and it came with the 1/4 spring loaded shelf pin bit…super fast and easy. I would have to give it 5 stars.

Hoss- Thank you, alien abduction could have possibly been more fun…lol They had me build it with a quarter inch of clearance so it should be a hoot watching them get it into position…lol

I noticed that you said exaggerated and not false. Should we read something into this?

After the projects leave this weekend, I have an 8 foot shelf unit to build. I only have 8 foot ceiling. Excellent job on this. She should love it.

Looks like you figured it out and ended up with a nice looking cabinet. I know what those big projects are like with barely a space to build them. Sometimes you have to take over other parts of the house for assembly.

Monte- Thank you sir. I had the same issue, eight foot ceilings but with duct work, lights and so forth I couldn’t stand this project up inside. Moving it in and out of shop was a real pain.

Dave- Thank you sir. Wonder what my wife would have said if I had built this thing in the living room?? LOL

Todd- Thank you cedar king. See you have been a busy guy yourself.

Great looking cabinet, Buster! I put a couple of short doors, on a cabinet hubby built, by myself. I really appreciate the effort and skill it takes to get them so straight! Thanks for sharing! (Glad the aliens didn’t keep you!)

Candy- Thank you mam!!! When the aliens decided they would have to feed me…well that was the end of that…lol Hinges were not to bad on this one. Had it laying flat and mounted them on the doors first. Then it was just a matter of watching my marks.

Jamie- Thank you ole Scottish guru. Leave it to you to see a unintended but very practical use for a project…lol

Jeff- Thanks Buddy. Its decided to be summer here now so the heat is effecting my “want too”...if ya could send a couple of those cool northern breezes this way…would be appreciated.

L2L- Thanks Lee. I have told you before buddy that you are one of my hero’s so I am gonna forgive you for trying to hex me like that….lol My hats off to all those guys that do that to make a living.
