Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t been around much. I can finally let the cat out of the bag, Woodturning Design Magazine has given me the honor of the cover of their fine publication as well as a bio on my woodworking history. I haven’t got my hands on a copy yet, just the cover. The piece they chose for the cover is my favorite segmented piece to date. 1902 pieces of Curly Maple and Tropical Walnut. I did this using a completely different method I derived from an inlay technique, it was practice for a much, much larger vessel that is in progress. If any of you haven’t had the opportunity to read WDM, it’s an excellent publication with a superb balance of technique, feature artists, tool reviews and much more. You would be amazed just what can come off a lathe, not just bowls. Anyway, please enjoy, I’ll post more once I receive my copy. Thanks to Joe Herrmann for all his help & guidance to make this come true.

That is really a gorgeous vase. The walls look exceptionally thin which really enhances the delicate design. It’s hard to believe that it could actually be made from wood! Thanks for sharing and congratulations on the well deserved cover placement.

Congrats HM! That’s one heck of a piece there and certainly a well deserved honor gracing the magazine cover.

All I can say is, what little I contribute to you all is tiny compared to what I get back. My skills only exist because of what I have learned from all of you. So thank you all for your generous contributions to my skills and the forums, take a bow, you all deserve it. Again, thanks very much. There’s a bigger one coming down the road too.

Someone could easily mistake that for pottery as it is intricate and beautiful!
Congratulations on making the magazine cover, not an easy accomplishment!
