Book Shelf with File Drawers

Project by Richard M. Petti posted 420 days ago 374 views 1 time favorited 7 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is the first project I have built out of the new shop after our move. Shop is still not done but I just had to make this. I was able to open the garage door and work in the drive. It is now fall and I have closed up the door with a wall. I’m starting to get used to the smaller space and I think that once it is all done I will like the smaller shop. I will put up some photos when I get more of the shop done.
This was made for a friend and I needed to stay at 6’ for the height. I’m 5’ 10” . I no sooner got this done and my wife had placed her order for one to replace the old metal one in our office. So I will be making that with a few changes in size. I hope you enjoy the photos.
Dick

That is a nice bookcase, Dick. I like the matching edge treatments. You executed a good design and build.

How did you finish it?

Scott thanks for taking a look and the nice comments. I put a heavy coat of min wax golden oak, let it set and then wiped it off. I then sprayed it with three coat of min wax satin polycrylic and I sanded between coats starting with 320 and up to 600 grit.

Richard, A very nice piece. The finish really makes the grain pop.
