I just finished waxing this last night before bed.

This box will be a Christmas gift for my brother’s wife. Last fall I found a piece of spalted cherry at our local hardwood supplier. The box measures 14” long X 7 1/2” wide & 4” tall. The splines are walnut & the lid is made with some figured walnut veneer I picked up on e-bay. I used my CNC router for all the lid inlay & filled the voids with turquoise inlace. It was my first time using inlace & I am very happy with how it turned out.

This was also the 1st time I tried making chippendale style feet & I like how they turned out. I finished it w/2 coats of danish oil & several thin coats of spray shellac & hand rubbed w/0000 steel wool & wax.

Thanks for looking.

This is a lovely piece you have done. I like the way you have placed the grain so precisely. The colours work well together. Also congratulations on planning so well for Christmas.

Talk about getting a jump on Christmas, it’s not even 4 of July yet! Nice box, she’s going to love it.
