I’ve always done dovetails with a router but wanted to try cutting them by hand. This was my first attempt. I wasn’t planning on finishing it but they came out alright so I put a bottom and top on it.

The wood is spalted Maple (I think) and Yellowheart. The finish is clear lacquer.

Size is roughly 10” x 5” x 2.5”

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful box. That spalted wood looks a lot like sycamore from here.

Beautiful box. Love the hand cut ITs. I milled some birch that had the exact same look.
