I started this welcome sign months ago. It was requested by my mother-in-law as a gift for my father-in-law. It turns out it will be a father’s day gift. Anyway, he does not hang out in woodworking circles so I am pretty safe to post things here and on my blog: http://sparrowwoodworks.blogspot.ca/
The sign is carved from pine. It is from a design from Steve Good's blog, the Scrollsaw Workshop.
My client asked for a bit simpler design, so I removed the leaves and rabbits. It really took me a long time to finish this project, partly because of a lack of a firm deadline and a lot time spent out of the shop.
The sign was finished with a cedar stain deck sealer. Then about six coats of exterior satin finish. It will probably find its home under an awning, so it should have a pretty long life.
I hope you enjoyed this project.
