Steelers Scrollwork on Solid Cherry

This is a commissioned piece, and it still pained me to ruin such wonderful cherry with such a horrible logo.

Even though I despise the Steelers, I do try to do my absolute best on all my scrollwork – I think this turned out pretty nice.

A few years ago I saw a fellow LJ’er use this font on a box I believe and was able to get a copy of it – it was the perfect match for this cutting. The only thing that gets cut is the shading on the font – really interesting cutting!

Overall, the piece is solid cherry with a live top edge. It roughly measures 10×13 and is around 1/4” thick.

I soaked the piece in lemon oil and then wiped a thin coat of a darkened danish oil over the face to pull out the grain in the wood a bit better. Backing is thick felt.

Enjoy!

GO RAVENS!!!!!! There, I feel a bit better now…...............

Nice work Bob.
That shadow font is pretty cool. I need to look around for a complete set of letters like that.

Too bad all that work for the Steelers, but hey, I learned something.

I could care less for the Steelers, but nice looking piece, and a great font. What is the name of that font/where to get it?

Rance and Steve,

The font is named “White Bold”.

As far as I am aware, the following website has it offered totally free and is also free of viruses, etc….. but I can’t be totally sure…........ 95% anyway…....

I took this font in photoshop and morphed the text to a banner style to get the wave shape

Nice cutting. It was nice of you to be the bigger person even if you didn’t like the logo. Ha! Ha!
