Well, the finish and the glue are still drying but I’m gonna call this done. It’s not perfect, there are flaws that I know where they are but, as I built it out of scraps and stuff I found, I think it’s darn good.

I’m putting this in my room tonight!

Thanks for looking.

looks like you used pine for the legs and trim? What are the panels made of?

The legs, bottom rails, center post and table banding are pine, the table top and drawer fronts are birch-faced plywood and I don’t know what the sides are. (I had some 5mm ply hanging around and used that to face some really cruddy construction-grade ply). The drawer fronts and table top are stained with what I believe was called “Pecan” and I put 2 coats on.

Every time I see this in my room I smile.

Gsimon: Yes, it is based on WWMM’s design. It is slightly different on the inside though as, with the construction ply and the 5mm ply facing, the sides and back were nearly 1” thick. So, I decided not to center them but rather make them flush with the insides of the legs. This gives a larger inset on the outside but made dealing with the drawers easier. Also, for the center spine I used 2 layers of the same construction grade ply that turned out to be about 11/16 or so rather than the 3/4” I thought it was and faced that on both sides with some scrap pieces of Luan that I got from the theater I volunteer for. The drawer carcasses I made from 7/16” OSB that I found and the drawer bottoms were 3/8 ply that were given to me by my neighbor.
Probably more detail than was needed, but there ya go.
