Saw Bench

I don’t have a good workbench, if you could even call it a workbench to begin with. I wanted something I could use for hand work stuff without having to build a full workbench yet because I don’t have the space nor the money for one. I am fairly new to woodworking so this build was a learning project as well as a new tool to use to clamp my future projects securely. It is made from basic 2×4 and 2×6 with a 1×12 for the legs. The saw bench will also act as a mini workbench for myself, I took the design from the one build by lumberjock swirt, I haven’t drilled holes for bench dogs or holdfasts yet but they will work with the pipe clamp in the middle as somewhat of a vice. The bottom can also be used to support a log for cutting as well. It was fun to build and I will use it for future projects.

Thanks for looking,

mptap Nice work.
This saw bench will last you a lifetime and I am sure you will use it (or a pair of them) often. Mine are still going strong. With a pair, it is not only great for sawing longer stuff, You can actually stack them with a few handscrew clamps you can actually lock them together and get a useable, not perfect, but useable height for some stand-up woodworking until you get a dedicated bench built.

If you are anything like me, it will take you about two times of banging your shin on that black pipe sticking out the far end, before you grab a hacksaw and solve that problem ;)

Neat! I do a lot of my projects outside to have room to swing long pieces around plus no dust collection system needed. I can see a version of this that would clamp into my Rockwell JawHorse.

Have your say...
