I made this for my desk at work: I always seem to be looking for paper clips and never seem to be able to keep them handy. I was at my favorite “toy store” (WoodCraft) and saw the oversized paper clip and knew what I had to do.
This came from a piece of cherry I pulled off of the firewood pile. I showed it to my wife, and she decided she wanted it more than me. I don’t fault her for it; in fact I am glad she took it. I have to go to the toy store and pick up another clip to go with a block of walnut I have glued up waiting for it.
Win some, lose some.

Thanks Lew I am planning on that later this week. I am telling her it is to go the Mexican restaraunt just down the road, but it always becomes a “while we are in the neighborhood.”

I know the exact resturant you are talking about and have used that exact strategy several times. Thankfully my wife loves Mexican food and is willing to trade a visit to Woodcraft for Dinner. Nice turning Brian, thin walls, looks good.

Thanks Kenn, I always use the two for the price of one theory. My other toy store (Bass Pro Shop) is just up the road from both places.

Nice project, Brian. I could use one of those for my desk. Thanks for sharing.

You’ll find that sort of thing happens often with the things we make. We might think we’re making it for ourselves then out of the blue, BAM! it’s gone. Nice little cup though.

nothing wrong with the wife wanting your projects. That shows that she is supportive of your craft. Great bowl, cant wait until I get a lathe.
