Desks for my assistants

I had been meaning to make desks for my six year old and four year old for a little while now, and finally got that checked off the list. They have been using them for the past couple weeks and love them.

These desks are based off of a design in Wood Magazine #83.

The desks are made with cheap poplar and a birch plywood top. I’m anticipating these things will take a beating, so I will easily be able to change the top at a later date if needed.

The kiddos went with me to the lumber yard to purchase the wood, picked out all the colors, and did a lot of the painting. They also enjoy being my shop elves and vacuuming any dust in sight.

Great desks. I can see how your little ones would really like playing with them. I sure wish our Grandkids lived closer. I really enjoy making toys for them, but shipping large items gets pretty costly…a package of toys about 18” around cost me $50 the other day to ship.

Way to go, Dad. These are so nice and I’m sure they love and appreciate them.

These look great and from the colors it is easy to tell which one belongs to who.
