Crazy Legs

This was made from some of the first wood we cut on our sawmill. I made this coffee table from two consecutive cuts of an acacia tree that I got from a landscaping friend. I flipped one piece to bookend match the two, ran the matching edges on the jointer, and joined them with glued up dowels. I tested some finishes before applying anything to the table, and found that if I put the finish directly on the acacia wood, it darkened it too much and took away some of the character of the grain. I ended up going with a sanding sealer before the spar urethane and it kept it from darkening. The legs are mesquite branches with the bark removed.

I especially like the split bookend top. Very creative. Very pretty.

Well done. Thanks for posting.

Excellent job. Water based poly won’t change the color.
