Hi Everyone
Here are a couple of photos of my newest Intarsia box. This box measures 12×9 x 5 and is made from antique mahogany salvaged from an old table leaf (1946} The Intarsia has 126 pieces made from 6 different woods. I used a different technique on the name plaque for this box . Because of the type font used for the names, I had the letters laser engraved into the holly to 1/8” deep then used a mixture of ebony dust and white glue to make a paste, smeared it into the recesses, let it dry and sanded it off.
Woods used; background-maple , flowers-Purpleheart, leaves-Lignum Vitae, stems-Peruvian Walnut, plaque-Holly, flower pots- Pernambuco.
Fun project
