Cherry and maple desk and hutch

Desk is cherry ply and solids with poplar as a secondary wood (drawers). Hutch is also cherry ply and solids with quilted maple veneer panels.

Matt, this is a gorgeous project. The quilted maple and curved rails add visual interest to the pieces. And what is not to like about the cherry!!!

Awesome job! Love the cherry and love the frame and panel construction.

What kind of cherry ply, rotary cut, plains sliced? Looks like the ply matched up nicely with the solid cherry in terms of color.

I believe its a plain sliced. The solid frame color isn’t an exact match for the desktop but I didn’t worry about it too much because its specifically built in panels to breakdown so with the differences in color it just makes the top look more “panel-like”. But the side panels in the hutch and desk were a much closer match for whatever reason. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good…
