I made this box for keeping spatulas and various other cooking utensils next to the stove. I wanted something long and narrow that wouldn’t take up much counter-space, but would look unique. This is what I settled on.
Woods used were bookmatched african rosewood for the back / side and Maple. For the opposing corners I mitered the edges, with hidden splines for reinforcement. For the other corners I used half-blind dovetails. After the box was put together I drilled holes through the back and about halfway into the maple front for dowels, which act as dividers.
