Walnut Curio Cabinet

Project by Adam Weis posted 421 days ago 774 views 6 times favorited 10 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This cabinet was of my own design and is built in walnut and alder with PO cedar for the drawer parts. The glass is also antique from an old window. I became increasingly aware as i made it that what looks interesting on paper is not necessarily convenient to build. (note the design of the doors) Anyways I just thought i would put it up to see what people think.

Well, I really like it! I don’t think people use walnut as there main wood in furniture pieces. Walnut seems to be relegated to the accent side of furniture.

Unusual design but works, what did you use to make the cut outs on the drawers and are the dovetails cut by hand?

Sweet! I like the way the cutouts peek up above the lower door rail. Kinda looks like one of those nouveau poppies growing up from inside.
