He’s neither happy nor sad….He’s perpetually apathetic…Poor guy. He could really use a hug or quite possibly some antidepressants. He lives his life half-alive. He’s far past the days of extreme emotional ups and downs. He just can no longer bear another heartache. Maybe soon, things will change for him. Maybe someone will show him the way….

:) I carved this character from a piece of driftwood. I shaped him up using rotary hand tools- kind of like dentist’s tools. When I was happy with the overall shape and texture of the wood, I began painting with acrylics. I love how much depth and contrast can be achieved with just a small amount of paint. Each new face that emerges from the wood teaches me a little something. I’m blessed to be a woodcarver.

Great inspiration, but as you see from my post today on L/J’s, I have a long way to go.

Ever watch “Battlestar Galactica”? In the new series version Cylons are engineered clone evolution over the older mechanical versions. They are like us but have greater strength and endurance. They have their weaknesses . I’m currently re watching it on Netflix. As productive as you are and inovative, I sometimes think “This guy must be a Cylon!”

It’s another way of saying “Wow” I wish I could do this.” David Savage wrote a book on “Furniture with soul.” He describes “Wow” that way.

Hope you’re making a living.

Goin out to sand old paint that’s left over from the stripper. “Fun, fun, fun” I’m learning patience, persistence, and practice.

Later,

Tom

Well thank ya’, Tom! I’ve never seen Battlestar Galactica….may have to check that out. I knew it was some sort of compliment, just wasn’t sure of the reference haha. Now we are on the same page! Good luck with the patience and persistence :)
