I usually like to carve the handle for these totes, but I opted for a simple oak dowel this time. It works. I just love the way chinquapin takes a finish. After sanding thru the grits it is a nebulous white box. Wipe it down with some Danish Oil and it turns into an amazing piece. Chinquapin (this batch was slightly spalted) has a wonderful old-timey look to the grain that makes it seem ancient. Love it. The 1/8” mahogany dowel pins are more for looks than joinery. I made two of these but didn’t get a pic of the second one yet.
