Night Stands

These are two night stands that I just completed. I’ve sort of been building a bedroom set one piece at a time to replace an old set my wife got as a high school graduation gift. I’ll post the headboard if the bed ever gets made so that I can take pictures!!

These are made of red oak from Bell Forest and Lowes. Red oak is the only hardwood I can buy around here. They are joined with glue and pocket screws with box joints for the drawers. They are stained with Minwax Dark Walnut and then topped with 3 coats of Minwax water based poly that I sprayed with my new HF HVLP sprayer; my first spray project. I think the finish came out ok. Still a lot to learn with using it.

Very nice looking work. Your wife should be thrilled.

It has it pros and cons. Goes on super fast but cleanup takes a little longer. I think I will like it though. I need to get some lacquer and try that. I’ve become quite the fan of the spray can laquer.

They look fantastic! I’m still building up towards my first project with drawers. I hope it turns out even half as good as what you’ve done!
