These two boxes are 6×8x4, and made with african ironwood and cherry, with a polished agate lift. I really like the color variations in the ironwood, cream, peach and black streaks, and it shimmers in the sun. It is a very difficult wood to work… it is extremely dense and reeks havoc on the tools, but it is rewarding getting it to shine. I used ca glue to keep the bark on the cherry, and the agate slice is simply epoxied into place.

You continue to demonstrate a well above average talent for combining interesting woods and materials in attractive ways. Your segmented turnings are also unique, and very attractive. Nice work. I look forward to seeing your next post.

More great looking boxes…the ironwood is beautiful and the agate lift is a great idea and thanks for telling about the ca glue to hold the bark on the cherry.

You are a box making machine lately. And these 2 are just as nice as your others. Never saw any of that African Ironwood before.
