I made these a few months back, but I am just getting around to posting them. This was my first attempt at knife making. In retrospect, this carving set was not a very good choice for a first project. I had purchased some bloodwood scales with the carving set blanks, but those scales were too small. They were about 5 inches long, which seems to be about normal for scales that you buy. This carving set needs ones that are much longer. I ended up cutting my own scales from a piece of timborana I had. I was a bit leery about that choice of wood, but the carving set seems to have turned out OK. I used a combination of bees wax and mineral oil for the finish.
