Kitchen iPad Stand

I noticed my wife has been using the iPad for recipes lately, which resulted in a lot of seeing the iPad laying on the counter. That wasn’t the best angle for use, and also meant that there was a good chance of it being in the ‘line of fire’. I decided to glue up some pieces from WoodCraft’s cutting board rack, to give it a little more look than just a single color.

Her iPad has a case, but I wasn’t sure if it would be the same case in the future, so I wanted to make the opening adjustable. In the last photo you can see the hidden slots for moving the carriage, which can be tightened with the maple knob on the back.

It was nice to make something on its own that was a little free-form, very few dimensions were set in stone.

This is the best iPad Stand I’ve seen to date.

Thanks for sharing, my mother needs one for this very reason.

Nice job on a good looking stand. How does the tightening mechanism work?

Thanks for posting,

Daiku,

The wood knob has a brass threaded insert for a screw that rides in a slot in the bottom piece. It doesn’t need to move far, so you can’t see it in the photo.

Nice! Very clever to “future-proof” it.
