This was quite a project for my wife, she had been asking for a larger jewelry cabinet for some time now so I decided I would make her a fun unique one.
I took a full length mirror I had made earlier and gave her a dry erase marker and told her to draw on the mirror what size and shape compartments she wanted. After she was done having fun playing with her jewelry figuring out what and where she wanted things I got to work designing the function of it.
I didn’t want to just put hinges on it and have it swing open, and it really wouldn’t work because I was going to put it in our closet. So I got my idea of using drawer slides from a picture of a secret compartment gun safe online. I themed it to be flush in the wall but since we are just renting right now, I will have to wait. When I do get to mount it in the wall it will just look like a full length mirror on the wall. I really like the stealthy idea of it.
Once I tweaked everything to fit and function correctly it went together pretty fast. She was absolutely stoked and filled the thing up pretty quickly.
It already seems like she needs more space!! How the heck did that happen? Oh well I guess it will just get a little brother to join it.
Thanks for looking
