those look really nice. Are those 4×4 posts for the corners? Does the top lift off or is it attached in some way?

Thanks! The corners are 1×3’s beveled and glued together While it ended up working out well but I would probably just use a solid piece of 3×3(or so) in the future since it would be easier.
The tops are attached with glue and are there to stay. I actually ran an extra piece of trim on the inside that isn’t visible just to give me some extra long grain glue up area.

benoitM, I just used some spray lacquer since that is what I had on hand Saturday evening. I am interested in seeing how it holds up.
