This is the finished box elder bowl from my blog entitled “Box Elder Bowl”. The finished bowl is almost 14 inches in diameter and 6 inches deep. There are 6 coats of high gloss Waterlox on the bowl! Between coats I wet sanded all the way up to 1000 grit. After the final coat of Waterlox the bowl was buffed on the Beall wheel. There are stunning red and blue streaks on this piece of wood. From the large piece of box elder that this bowl came from I should be able to get another bowl and a hollow form. The box elder blog details how this bowl was turned.

Very nice bowl, cool colors – love the shine on that finish, too.

Beautiful Bowl!
Did you use a reverse chuck to finish the bottom?
