Quick and Simple Clamp Rack

Scored some clearance Bessy parallel and pipe clamps at Lowes. Have been on the look out after I broke nearly all my harbor freight (including a normally ok aluminum bar clamp that snapped the head right off.) A week later- the Lowes ad has the Irwin clamps buy one get one free! I went from nearly nothing to clamp with to what I consider an enviable set. Will have to do some reviews on the clamps when I get more time using them.

This clamp rack is what I came up with for my new set. 2×6 that I had started to plane down for a project, but didn’t use it. Drilled a series of holes- then used a square and jigsaw to cut the notches. A bit of glue, screws all around and a quick and stable clamp rack. Nothing groundbreaking I know- but if you need to get you clamps off your garage floor, this is an easy way to do it.

Nice.

Nice job on the clamps and sounds like it was just in time for you.
When asked “why so many clamps?” these people just don’t get it!
Great storage setup!!!

@Ken90712 Thanks for the link. I really really like that design. I am already thinking if i knock the 45s out of the corners and bring a 2×6 down either side, i could create a new layer. Love that idea. A bit early for my needs maybe, but it always nice to have a solution before you hae a problem.

@Thewoodman2000 I know! everytime i think… oh yeah im set- no need for more- a new task shows up.

@eztrigger- thats one nice thing about living in Salt Lake City, there are half a dozen Lowes withing driving distance. Funny story- got what my local one had- drove 30 min round trip to get more- back to my store the next day and happened by the lumber department and they had a CASE of probably a hundred. *sigh. WHY are the clamps in the LUMBER DEPARTMENT while on sale? FRONT and CENTER! Oh well. Got what I needed.

I need to build something similar for all my bar clamps badly…

Great clamp rack… Wish I had known there was a sale going on. I really like the Bessy clamps that I have, and like you say, can always use more….

Your clamps are in the same location as mine – to the right of the garage door. Must be something about that corner and clamps.

WELL, The Bessy parallel clamps are showing 30% off at the Lowes in our area max. Just have to get to a store that has some. That was part of my driving all over. the one South of you had some when i was there last btw. Just checked online and it says its good till 5/30. I bet they don’t last that long in the stores. Not sure if its just the lowes in our area or if its a nation wide sale- but i say check it out. Thats a good chunk off. (esp if you can talk the manager down a bit for some missing some clamp pads like i did!)

The stores in San Jose Ca. are showing them right now as 10% off but I would have to go to 4 different stores to get 4 clamps acording to thier online inventory. But HD is showing the Jorgensen clamps for just about the same price and more in stock in my area. Hum what am I doing after work.
