The decor in the Grandson’s room is black. My experience with black enamel didn’t work so well on his bed. On this project I elected to spray SW flat black interior (left over from another project) with my HPLV followed by two sprayed coats of poly. Will surely use this finishing procedure in the future for all painted projects. Birch 3/4 ply with maple. Sliding shelf box is finger jointed poplar. Lid soft close from Sugastone (Rockler #68732).

Inspiration, pattern and most procedures from Jon Peters Blanket Chest on youtube.

Wow! This is so nice and beautifully done. It has a lot of fine details and nice craftsmanship.
