There is a article about a hardware box in Popular Woodworking, June issue, and I really liked the idea of getting and keeping all my brass hardware and screws together and organized so I built one this weekend. It is made of Red Oak and I put one coat of BLO on it to give it a little protection and will just let it age from there. I started to make the aged black hinges they used since it looked pretty cool but since it is going to hold brass I went ahead and used the brass hinges on it. Hopefully it will last a long time, overall I am pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

Very nice! I have never thought of doing a lid this way. I like it.

Thanks for the kind words.
Jeff I think doing the lid this way will help keep some of the dust and dirt from getting inside. There was one other thing that I really didn’t say anything about and looking at the pictures it is hard to see. I made some molding that is just a 45 degree moulding 7/16 by 7/16 around the bottom of each section. I thought it would help keep the small screws away from the sides and easier to pick up.

This is a beautiful organizer and a nice addition to your shop.
