Project Information

Made a pair of Adirondack chairs for our place in PA. Each comes with a pull-out leg rest that easily slides back underneath the seat. It's a simple design and was really fun to make. I made templates for each chair part. So now all I have to do is trace and cut and I'm good to go.

I used Benjamin Moore Aborcoat which is water based and is really nice to work with. I finished it with the Arborcoat spar clear finish.

The chairs are made with 5/4 cedar decking from my local lumberyard. I think if I do make additional chairs I might use teak or cypress for no other reason than to change it up.

It was a looooooonnnnggg winter here this year so I can't wait to put these to use with my morning PA coffee.

Thanks for looking.

Those look nice Fred and I'm sure that will be a nice place to sit and have the morning coffee. I like the pull out rests too.

Ken90712. I got the plans from Wood magazine july 2013 issue. It's pretty straight forward. I made a few customizations but for the most part, I followed the plans. Thanks!!!

great chairs, these are on my list for this summer. I have been looking at several of these and a few with foot rests, but I like the idea of the pull out foot rest. Great job. My son wants a few for his frat at college, so that is my summer project.

i am looking to make a few of these myself….where did you get the plans. I like the idea of "simple design and was really fun to make", as well as the pull out foot stools.

Very nice! Buying a house on Bull Shoals Lake in Northern Arkansas and these look like the perfect 1st project for our new place. Thanks for posting and for the plan source info.
