Spalted maple bowl

Thought I’d try some of that maple I acquired a few months ago. A while back I made a cherry spoon out of a green cherry branch. Just as I was finishing up it started to crack just slightly. I quickly coated it with my orange wax and it’s been fine since. I thought I’d try that technique with this. Seems to be working.

OK, tell the truth- is that red, on the wood, blood from your forehead?

I like the natural design.

Now here’s an opportunity to say I leave my mark on my work! Unfortunately, It’s the color of the wood. It’s actually reddish brown. The picture makes it look redder than it is.
