Just finished this small Walnut Box. I was playing around with making a nice elegant Walnut box and when I started sketching I kept wanting to add a line or some decorative element to the top, that is how I came up with racing strips. So I cut a rough walnut piece and added the 2 Maple strips, I really liked it so I decided to make it go around the back and front as well. I mitered the corners and had to make sure all the lines lined up that a little bit of a challenge but it all worked out. I even made a lid handle with the stripes and place it in line. I went with antiqued hinges with balls on the sides that I really liked. I lined it with suede and finished it with a lot of coats of lacquer, then I sanded and polished it to a glassy finish. Hope y’all like it.

Very nice box! Walnut is one of my favorite woods, and you’ve done some nice work with it. The stripes really set the box apart!
