This was a retirement shadow box I built for one of my Marines. Turned the bullet tips on my lathe and painted them. The box is all pine except for the corner blocks which are cherry. The flag was flown in his honor in Belleau Wood France which was a major Marine Corps battle. Also where Marines earned the nickname “Devil Dog”. Installed an LED light bar in the top and hooked it up to a 9v battery and a switch so that there were no cords. Works great.

That is very nice. I love the light shot. I’m sure your Marine will appreciate it.

This is one great looking retirement box. Very nicely crafted! What did you use for the clear material over the bullets? It looks like a rectangular bubble or blister, or perhaps it’s just the photo.

Ron, Its just the photo. Its a piece of plexi set into the wood over the bullet with some clear adhesive.

I’m looking to get something like this done for a Marine Corps Major who’s retiring. He’s Aviation Ordnance and I think he would like something like this a lot. What are the dimensions on this? Would you be willing to make another one like that?
